Cougars Lacrosse Club was founded in July 2010 to provide an inclusive and welcoming environment to grow the game of lacrosse in the Caterham area. In the years since then, Caterham Cougars has grown to be a successful club and is one of only a few that provides both Junior and Senior Lacrosse programmes.
Our core activities take place on Sundays throughout the season with either club training or match fixtures taking place.
Training sessions are led by our head coach, together with coaching support from qualified Cougars members and players. We now have over 70 members and offer training for all different age groups.
Junior Teams
We welcome all budding lacrosse players from age 10 (in year 6) and upwards. Members have the opportunity to learn from experienced coaches every week and play in junior matches with other clubs.
We train and play on Sunday mornings (term-time only) 10.00 – 11.30am at Hill Fields, 11 Park Avenue, Caterham CR3 6AH.
Senior Team
From age 15 onwards, members are eligible to play in the Senior Women's League. This is a significant competition run by SEWLA (South East Women's Lacrosse Association). Our Senior Team successfully plays consistently in Division 1 of the league and in 2024 finished runner up to West London over the course of 14 matches.
Our league programme does involve some travel to away matches around the Home Counties
We offer a taster session to anyone keen to join the Club and beginners are very welcome!
Club Officials
Cougars is run entirely by volunteers for the benefit of the players – if you would like to get involved and can spare a little time to become involved we’d love to hear from you.
We are also looking for trainee umpires – who are paid for each match. Anyone over the age of 18 can become an umpire and we will arrange the required training (which is an online course). If you’d like to find out more, please do get in touch. Hattie played for Cougars through various age groups and has joined the club as Head Coach in 2024 while taking a year before returning for further University Studies.

Qualifications
Our lacrosse development also helps our members gain coaching and umpiring qualifications. Not only are they useful qualifications but we pay market leading rates to those who go on to coach at the club. Girls can start working on their qualifications from Year 10 upwards and we hold assessment days at which they can finalise their awards.
